Welcome to the Research Ethics Commitee of the Faculty of Psychology
The Faculty of Psychology of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah is fully committed to improving the quality of psychological, social, educational, and humanities research and protecting the rights and well-being of research participants. For this reason, research involving human participation must be conducted in a manner that is in accordance with internationally accepted research ethical standards, with due regard for the privacy, dignity, and safety of research subjects.Research ethics review services conducted by researchers both from the Faculty of Psychology of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and from outside UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta are provided by the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Psychology of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Psychology of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta was formed through the decree of the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology No. 74 of 2021 which is tasked with assessing the ethical feasibility of research conducted by academicians both within and outside UIN Syarif Hidayatullah.
The Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Psychology of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta developed the Human Research Ethics Application as a concise application to facilitate a timely and efficient ethics review for research involving humans. The Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Psychology of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta assists researchers in considering the ethical principles of Ethical Conduct in Human Research in accordance with their research. Human research is research conducted with or about people, or data that involve human participants. Therefore, human participation in research should be understood broadly, including human involvement in:
- taking part in surveys, interviews, or group discussions
- undergoing psychological, physiological, or medical tests or treatment
- being observed by researchers
- situation where researchers have access to participants' personal documents or other documents,
- access to research participant information (in individually identifiable, re-identifiable, or non-identifiable form) as part of published or unpublished sources or databases.
The institution is responsible for establishing procedures for the ethical review of human research. This review can be conducted at various levels, depending on the level of risk involved in the research. The relationship between researchers and research participants is the main basis for conducting human research. The principles upheld in this regard involve respect for human dignity, attending to research needs while maintaining integrity, ensuring fairness, and striving to act with kindness. These values form a substantial and flexible framework to guide the process of research design, review, and implementation. The relationship between researchers and participants is built on trust, mutual responsibility, and the principle of ethical equality. The importance of assessing that human research proposals meet ethical standards before commencing research is key in ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
