Fasting as a Means to Achieve the Degree of Taqwa
Ciputat, March 6, 2025 – As we prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, Dr. Gazi, M.Si., FPSI, a lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology, UIN Jakarta, emphasized the importance of fasting as a way to achieve the level of taqwa. He shared these insights during an Islamic study session held at the Faculty of Psychology, UIN Jakarta, on Wednesday morning.
According to Dr. Gazi, fasting helps us reach the level of taqwa in several ways. First, by becoming more aware of Allah SWT's presence and guidance in all aspects of our lives. Second, by increasing acts of worship and good deeds during Ramadan, such as reading the Qur’an, giving charity, and praying more. Third, by using fasting as an opportunity for self-reflection and introspection.
“Fasting isn’t just an annual ritual – it’s a moment for self-improvement. If we truly understand the meaning of fasting, Ramadan will become a month of spiritual transformation, shaping us into more pious individuals in our everyday lives,” Dr. Gazi explained.
The session received positive feedback from the attendees, many of whom felt more motivated to observe fasting with greater depth and meaning.
With Ramadan approaching, Dr. Gazi encouraged everyone to use this holy month as an opportunity to strengthen their faith and truly achieve the level of taqwa
