This research was conducted by Dr. Natris Idriyani, M.Si, M.Psi, Psychologist and Dr. Neneng Tati Sumiati, M.Si, Psychologist. The aims of the research are (1) to test the effectiveness of 2 methods of memorizing the Al-Quran in improving the memory of ABK, (2) to explain the implications of the 2 methods of memorizing the Al-Qur'an on the memory of ABK, (3) to find a method of memorizing the Al-Qur'an that is suitable/in accordance with the conditions of the crew's needs.
Having ABK is not an obstacle for Muslim parents to achieve their dream of having children who memorize the Koran. ABK still have the right to receive religious lessons such as memorizing the Koran. Because with the right method, children with special needs have the same opportunity to memorize the Koran. This study underlines the importance of providing appropriate educational assistance and techniques for children involved in memorizing the Koran, with the aim of encouraging cognitive development, in this case memory, in children with an early mental age (Hanafi et al., 2021).
The process carried out in this research is teaching memorization of the Al-Quran using the Al-Quran memorization method: Talaqqi, which integrates audiovisual elements, and Sima'i, which emphasizes the audio component. Both groups received training for one month, attending 40-minute sessions three times a week. The Al-Quran surah that is memorized is Surah Thoha verses 25-28. The criteria for respondents are individuals with the characteristics of Down Syndrome.
