National Seminar on Islamic Psychology 2024: Improving the Quality of Islamic Psychology Research at UIN Jakarta
Ciputat, October 17, 2024 – The Faculty of Psychology at the State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta is holding a National Seminar on Islamic Psychology titled "Improving Research Quality in Islamic Psychology" today at the Prof. Dr. Zakiyah Daradjat Theater. This event aims to discuss and enhance the quality of research in Islamic Psychology, featuring prominent experts in this discipline.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Dr. Yunita Faela Nisa, M.Psi., Psychologist, along with Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs, Mrs. Yufi Adriani, M.Psi, Ph.D., Psychologist; Vice Dean II for General Administration, Mrs. Mulia Sari Dewi, M.Si, Psychologist; Vice Dean III for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, Mrs. Dr. Rena Latifa, M.Psi. Psychologist; Head of the Undergraduate Program, Mr. Mohamad Avicenna, M.H.Sc.Psi., Ph.D; Secretary of the Undergraduate Program, Mrs. Desi Yustari Muchtar, M.Psi, Psychologist; Head of the Master's Program, Dr. Natris Idriyani, M.Si, Psychologist; and Secretary of the Master's Program, Dr. Layyinah M.Si. And attended by lecturers and students of S1, S2, and S3, both from the Faculty of Psychology and outside FPsi UIN Jakarta
The seminar was officially opened by Dr. Yunita Faela Nisa, M.Psi., Psychologist and Dean of the Faculty of Psychology at UIN Jakarta. In her opening remarks, Dr. Yunita emphasized the importance of developing high-quality Islamic Psychology research to address contemporary challenges and contribute meaningfully to societal well-being.
"This seminar serves as a platform for academics and researchers to share knowledge and experiences in developing Islamic Psychology research that is not only theoretically relevant but also beneficial for everyday life," said Dr. Yunita.
The seminar featured two keynote speakers who are influential figures in Islamic Psychology in Indonesia. Prof. Dr. Abdul Mujib, M.Ag., M.Si., Professor at the Faculty of Psychology at UIN Jakarta, explained that Islamic Psychology has gained worldwide recognition, even reaching countries such as the United States (Khalil), the United Kingdom (IPPA), Russia, and Turkey (IAIP, IAMP). Some books discuss Islamic Psychology globally (Islamic Psychology Around the Globe), highlighting aspects of high-quality research, including research stages, research quality, and quality publication.
Meanwhile, Prof. Drs. Subandi, M.A., Ph.D., Psychologist and professor at the Faculty of Psychology at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), shared his perspective on Islamic Psychology, stating that Islamic Psychology is essentially Western psychology conducted by Muslims.
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Solicha, M.Si., who ensured that the Q&A session was interactive and participatory. The participants, including students and lecturers, were enthusiastic throughout the session.
This seminar is open to the public and free of charge, offering an opportunity for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of Islamic Psychology and keeping up with the latest developments in research in this field.
